PokéRogue Endless Mode Guide: Teams, Tokens & Bosses

Endless Mode unlocks after the first Classic Mode clear. It removes trainer and Mystery Encounter battles, raises the starter cost limit to 15 and continues through thousands of wild encounters, bosses and permanent enemy Tokens. The current mode has an endpoint at wave 5850 rather than running forever.

Later in the run, additional non-tenth waves can become boss encounters. The chance begins increasing after wave 250 and reaches a high frequency in the later game.

What Are Endless Tokens?

Enemy Tokens are permanent modifiers added after each 50-wave boss section. They increase enemy power or reduce the reliability of the player's strategy. Eternatus and Eternamax milestones award larger groups of higher-tier Tokens.

TokenEffectWhy It Matters
DamageRaises enemy damage by 5% per stack.Eventually makes ordinary hits capable of one-hit knockouts.
ProtectionReduces damage dealt to enemies by 2.5% per stack.Direct-damage strategies lose effectiveness over time.
RecoveryHeals 2% of enemy maximum HP each turn.Slow damage plans need enough pressure to outpace healing.
Full HealAdds a chance to clear enemy status each turn.Status alone becomes less reliable.
EndureAdds a chance that the enemy survives an attack.Multi-hit and repeatable finishing methods become valuable.
Status TokensCan inflict paralysis, poison or burn when you hit.Long fights create more chances for the player to be disrupted.
FusionAdds a chance for wild Pokémon to be fused.Encounter typing, abilities and stats become less predictable.

Build the Team Around Roles

RoleEarly PurposeLong-Run Purpose
Main carryClear waves quickly and build item stacks.Remain useful until Tokens make normal damage unreliable.
Boss answerHandle Paradox and Eternatus milestones.Use repeatable, scaling or fixed-damage strategies.
Run Away userSkip expensive or dangerous encounters.Avoid wasting resources when most normal battles are no longer worth fighting.
Luck slotsImprove reward quality when the team is stable.Help obtain item upgrades and support shiny hunting.
Utility supportStatus, debuffs, healing, item support and safe pivots.Enable reliable control rather than pure damage races.
Fusion planCombine complementary abilities, types and moves.Create specialized long-run builds and combine shiny Luck.

A species such as Zigzagoon can be checked for utility options such as Pickup or Run Away, but the exact best choice depends on the unlocked ability, Passive, moves and the rest of the team.

Early, Mid and Late Endless Planning

Waves 1–250: Build the Engine

  • Establish one reliable carry instead of spreading all resources evenly.
  • Collect long-term items, EXP support, money tools, useful berries and team-defining form items.
  • Catch shinies and rare Pokémon when the attempt does not place the run at unnecessary risk.
  • Prepare a clear answer for the first Eternatus milestone at wave 250.

Waves 251–1000: Specialize

  • Boss encounters become more common, so recovery and PP management matter more.
  • Increase Luck and item quality after the main battle plan is stable.
  • Decide which party slots are permanent and which can be replaced by a better shiny, support or fusion component.
  • Prepare for Eternamax at wave 1000 rather than treating every section as another early-game damage race.

After Wave 1000: Stop Relying Only on Brute Force

As Damage and Protection Tokens accumulate, enemy attacks trend toward one-hit knockouts while the player's direct damage approaches ineffective levels. Community strategy references warn that pure brute-force teams usually stall around waves 2000–2500. Long-run attempts need specialized control, fixed or repeatable damage, safe encounter skipping and a plan for Endure and healing Tokens.

Reward and Shiny-Hunting Notes

  • Endless provides enough encounter volume to become one of the main shiny-hunting modes.
  • Shiny Charms can eventually raise wild shiny odds substantially, while party Luck improves reward tier-up odds rather than shiny odds.
  • Pokémon in the ??? boss biomes are shiny-locked.
  • Egg Vouchers and Egg Voucher Plus can appear in rewards or early rerolls, but Egg Voucher Premium does not appear as a normal Endless wave reward.
  • Some item stacks that clear out of the Classic reward pool at their maximum do not have the same effective maximum removal behavior in Endless.

Common Endless Mistakes

  • Starting with several expensive Pokémon but no clear carry or team role structure.
  • Assuming a strong Classic sweeper will scale through the entire mode unchanged.
  • Ignoring Run Away or encounter-skipping utility in the late game.
  • Chasing maximum Luck before the team can survive bosses consistently.
  • Failing to plan for the 250, 1000 and later Eternatus milestones.
  • Using only status when Full Heal Tokens can clear it, or only direct damage when Protection Tokens stack.
  • Treating every captured shiny as a mandatory party member instead of evaluating its actual role.
